License and notices
One Connect is source-available under the Apache License 2.0 with the Commons Clause. Use it, change it and build with it, including at work, but do not sell it.
The short version#
| You may | You may not |
|---|---|
| Use One Connect for personal or commercial work | Sell One Connect, or a product or service whose value comes entirely or substantially from it |
| Read, modify and build on the source | Charge for hosting it or for consulting and support services around it |
| Share it and your changes, with the license and notices | Remove the license, the Commons Clause notice or attributions |
This summary is not legal advice. The LICENSE file is what applies.
The license#
The project is licensed under the Apache License, Version 2.0, subject to the Commons Clause License Condition v1.0. The SPDX expression on every source file is:
Apache-2.0 AND LicenseRef-Commons-Clause-1.0The Commons Clause removes from the Apache grant the right to "Sell" the software: to provide to third parties, for a fee or other consideration, a product or service whose value derives entirely or substantially from its functionality. Everything else in Apache-2.0 applies, including its explicit patent grant.
Note
Because of the Commons Clause, One Connect is source-available, not open source under the OSI definition. The code is public and you can use and change it, but the selling restriction is not something an OSI-approved license allows.
Third-party software#
- THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md lists every runtime dependency, JavaScript and native Rust, with its license. It is generated and checked in CI (
pnpm license:check) against the allowlist inlicense-policy.json. - Some native dependencies use MPL-2.0. The engine bundle includes those crates' unchanged sources and notices, and the inventory links their exact upstream versions.
- GPL, AGPL, SSPL and unknown runtime licenses are kept out of the build.
- The bundled local models (Qwen3, Apache-2.0) and
llama-server(llama.cpp, MIT) keep their own licenses. - Pinned design skills keep their upstream licenses (MIT and Apache-2.0) and notices.
- OpenCode, Docker, Graphify, Ollama, Tailscale and every vendor agent CLI are installed by you and are not redistributed.
